I made this mala design nearly ten years ago with 6mm malachite stones after discovering that some men found the 8mm stones to be too big and bulky.  I added the spacers to solve the bracelet size issue and to provide easy movement and counting for men's bigger fingers.  Then, voila.  Spacing beads became an original part of my mala designs for both men and women, and have turned out to be extremely useful.  Now, I use them in nearly all my designs.
